A native of Idaho, Mr. Smith's journey in theatre began at Highland High School in Pocatello, where he graduated in 2004. He continued his education at Idaho State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre in 2008. His time on stage and behind the scenes has given him a broad perspective on theatrical production, with favorite roles including Tony in West Side Story, Banquo in Macbeth, and Andrew Wyke in Sleuth.
Mr. Smith’s commitment to his students extends beyond the classroom. He was honored as the Arizona Thespians Teacher of the Year in 2021 and has provided his students with invaluable cultural and educational experiences, including trips to London, New York City, and the International Thespian Festival.
The move to Queen Creek is a family affair. Mr. Smith met his wife in college, and they married in 2008. They have two children, Jackson and Brooklyn. Jackson is a freshman at Queen Creek High this year and is already following in his father's footsteps as a cast member in the fall play.
As the new school year gets underway, Mr. Smith is excited to build on the existing talent at Queen Creek High and cultivate the next generation of performers, technicians, and theatre lovers. The community looks forward to seeing his vision for the drama program come to life.
